The name of our company is ARTISTIC ILLUSIONS We are a family owned and operated company that have been in the decorative painting, custom faux finishes and murals business since 1989 and servicing customers with faux painted garage doors, window shutters, side gates and front doors since 1999.
We are not a painting company. Our background and expertise is fine art. We believe this gives us an edge in the business because we look at the work with the eye of an artist and not through the eye of an ordinary painter. Furthermore, we do not use airbrush to create our art. This means that the wood grain we create, does not look “Blurry or out of focus” if viewed from a short distance. We pride ourselves in creating masterpieces of art that increase the curb appeal of your home and truly adds value to your property.
In addition, we pride ourselves with follow up care. This includes an annual courtesy call to assess any need for maintenance. We also offer annual maintenance plans to keep your garage door looking beautiful for years.
All of our garage doors are created with custom colours created on site by the artist. Each garage door can be made to match your existing front door or a particular wood species.

Our History
We prefer working with oil paints to ensure extra durability. Our special marine proof oil products will not* fade, chip, or crack and will deliver consistent results. In addition, our marine proof sealer is used to protect metal as well as wood from weather and outdoor related abuse. Inhibitors protect against heat, cold, wind-borne sand, and salt spray. Our products have UV and corrosive inhibitors that will not breakdown for years. All of our paints are EF (environmentally friendly) and has lower VOC.
Our Products
We started working on our own garage door in 1989 when wood garage doors were not fashionable. We wanted our garage door to match the beautiful front door of our home thus enhancing its curb appeal. After spending a considerable amount of time researching the alternatives available to us, we decided not to spend thousands of dollars by purchasing an expensive wood garage door that would require sanding, restaining and revarnishing for yearly maintenance.
We realized that no matter how much money and time we invest on trying to get the right wood garage door, we would end up with one that would not match our front door. In addition, we would have to spend extra money replacing the motor and springs in order to operate the new “Heavy” wood garage door.
After 10 years of trial and error, we developed the right combination of marine proof oil products that would not fade, chip, or crack while delivering consistent results. Since 1999, we have been creating faux pained garage doors that look as if they came from the same tree as your front door.
